Peugeot reveals electric eight-seat e-Traveller
Peugeot has confirmed that a new electric passenger version of its Traveller large people carrier will arrive in the second half of this year, offering seating capacity of up to eight and an official range figure of up to 143 miles.
Available in two body lengths and Active or Allure trim levels, the model is, according to Peugeot, aimed at "professional and personal mobility needs", thanks to its changeable seat layout. It can carry eight people as well as a 1500 litre boot capacity, rising to 4900 with the rear two rows of seats removed.
Pricing will be announced later in the year, with grip control an available option to help off-road traction.
New engine for revised Toyota Hilux
The Toyota Hilux will have a new 201hp 2.8-litre diesel engine when the revised model lands in the UK in November 2020.
The facelift includes a revised grille and front bumper, with front and rear light clusters now available on higher trim levels. The pictured Titan Bronze metallic paint is also a new addition.
On the inside, a redesigned instrument cluster includes an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto smartphone integration. A new Invincible X model at the top of the range is aimed at business customers also using their pick-up for leisure.
New car sales down 89% as Tesla leads again
The Tesla Model 3 again led the much-depleted new car market in May, as only 20,247 new cars found their way to buyers, compared with more than 183,000 in May 2019, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
The Model 3 was top of the table for the second month in a row with 852 registrations, 62 ahead of the Vauxhall Corsa.
Electric vehicles took a 12.0% share of the market last month, just five percentage points behind diesel.
The SMMT welcomed the decision to re-open car dealerships from the beginning of June. "Restarting this market is a crucial first step in driving the recovery of Britain's critical car manufacturers and supply chain, and to supporting the wider economy," said
SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes. "Ensuring people have the confidence to invest in the latest vehicles will not only help them get on the move safely, but these new models will also help address some of the environmental challenges the UK faces in the long term."
